The Joint Committee on Infant Hearing has released its 2007 Position Statement.  The committee, with representatives from a range of disciplines and organizations, and representation from the American Academy of Audiology by Alison Grimes and Christine Yoshinaga-Itano, has produced this best-practices, evidence-based guideline on newborn hearing screening, audiologic and medical diagnosis and audiologic, medical and educational management (Early Intervention), for the infant with hearing loss or deafness.

This web seminar discusses the breadth and depth of the JCIH statement, with particular emphasis on those aspects of the program that impact audiologists:  diagnosis (objective and behavioral), audiologic treatment (amplification, counseling, early intervention programming, counseling, referrals, collaboration with other professionals, and parent/family issues).   The risk-factors for congenital and late-onset/progressive hearing loss have been updated and will be presented.
